Having just returned from our not so little jaunt around
the Cape & Western part of our country we can honestly
say that our stay at Afton Grove was by far the best
experienced. Not only was the "garden cottage"
most pleasant, suiting our purpose the way it did, but
the members of your staff were equally up to the high
standard which is clearly evident throughout your establishment.

...........the next day we went birding with Chris,
the owner Afton Grove. It was a delight, he knew where
to go and exactly what birds we could expect to see.
First stop was Rondevlei reserve where we saw African
Spoonbill, Purple Heron, Maccoa Duck, Orange Breasted
Sunbird, African Snipe and also some Hippo wadding in
the water. Later on to Strandfontein where we got some
really good pictures of Greater Flamingo!......

Our short stay at the Cape gave us enough of a flavour

We enjoyed our stay so very much that we still regularly
talk about it. Our fond memories of the last quiet week
on the Peninsula with visits to Cape Point, Cape Town,
Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Robben Island &
Table Mountain as well as the time spent quietly reading
and relaxing in the garden & pool area at Afton
Grove whilst enjoying typical warm South African sunshine
